There are some bands that sound like summer and the beach, Tallahassee's Holiday Shores is one of those bands. Featuring equal parts pop, ambience, and shoegaze, their new record, Columbus'd The Whim, is a haunting mix of jangly guitars and well-crafted melodies, swimming in a sea of reverb.
Formerly known as Continental Divide, Holiday Shores now consists of a group of friends and roommates, led by 21-year-old Nathan Pemberton, who wrote the new album. The record was recorded in Pemberton's living room and was described by The Fader as:
"A great pop album with infinitely catchy melodies and a sense of restraint that usually comes from bands just hitting their stride with their third albums."
With the Columbus'd The Whim just released on Brooklyn's twosyllable records and a tour planned for late August, Holiday Shores have been building up quite a buzz. Check out the first single from the new record below – then catch them live later this month.
